South High Predicts 2024

South+High+Predicts+2024

The New Year has arrived and it is time for a tradition that is centuries old to return: predictions. I asked South High students and teachers what they thought was going to happen in in 2024 and split it into five categories: Politics, Sports, Culture, Weather, and Miscellaneous.

Note: Asterisk (*) indicates a teacher’s prediction.

Politics

  • *Joe Biden dies
  • Donald Trump wins the election
  • Donald Trump loses the election
  • Donald Trump is convicted
  • Russo-Ukraine War ends
  • Irish Reunification

Sports

  • *USA has the most medals at the Olympics
  • Pickleball is out – tennis is in
  • *Bruins will win the Stanley Cup
  • *Bill Belichick retires (this was written before 1/11/24)

Culture

  • Gypsy Rose Blanchard stars in a movie
  • *Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get engaged
  • Kanye West drops the album of the year
  • *Denim-on-denim is in fashion again
  • *Wicked will premiere and be a complete flop
  • George Santos creates a fashion line

Weather

  • *Less than 6 snow days
  • Exactly 5 snow days
  • 3 delays

Miscellaneous

  • It’s only up from here
  • Someone breaks into the gated bathrooms
  • 6 more fights before the year ends

The winner for the most cryptic prediction is: “the next level.” I don’t know what that means at all to be honest.

If you want to send me your own predictions for an updated article, please submit them here. Predictions can be about any topic but should be reasonable and feasible.
