As Leire graduates, the paper will be losing not just a talented writer, but a staff member who was passionate about making the paper accessible to the entire South community.
Leire excelled in journalistic writing all year – her articles were informative, well researched, and the clarity of her writing is next level. In her articles, she introduced readers to events in the school and in the city. As a staff member she was always willing to jump in on a topic, and even with short notice, she would produce a beautiful article. This speaks to both her talent and her work ethic.
Beyond her editing and her writing, Leire was our translator for our weekly Chronicle articles – carefully translating each email to make our articles accessible for our Spanish speaking students. Keeping this up weekly while also handling a heavy load of advanced senior classes was a feat, but Leire’s dedication kept her on a dedicated weekly basis. Thanks to her work, readers of all backgrounds were more informed on the school and on issues in society, and her professionalism will be missed, but we are sure she will be bringing her talent and experience overseas to her college experience and beyond!
