The South High baseball team was scheduled to play Doherty in an Inter-High game at Polar Park on Monday, April 8th. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the solar eclipse and the original game start time of 2:30, the Worcester Public Schools decided to reschedule the game.
Our South High Colonels baseball team will now be playing at Polar Park on Monday, April 22, at 3:30pm. The cost of attendance is free!
The Polar Park games have become a beloved tradition for our baseball team.
Senior Jack Grady describes the unique experience: “The whole vibe of playing at Polar Park is different than your normal game. That field is taken care of 24/7 so when you go out on it you can tell right away the difference in quality compared to other fields. Also having a Jumbotron in the back will always be cool for a high school baseball game!”
Coach Papagni echoes this sentiment of the special experience of playing on a professional field: “Sometimes with the weather the fields around here can be a problem for the first month of the season. So for them to have that ability to finally be out with nothing to worry about and leave it all on the field…. also when they get their names called by Mr. Sharry over the speakers, it’s something they will have as a memory forever.”
Stay tuned for photos from the game.
