Lucy’s passion for all things English brought a literary flair to the paper – as an experienced writer, Lucy’s perspective helped the paper spring creativity. In our weekly meetings, Lucy’s enthusiasm and conversation helped us reflect on ways the paper can bring attention to themes of our school and our society.
I will miss the meetings when Lucy thought of an issue or topic, and then would get excited sharing her ideas and thoughts with us. Very often this would lead us to ideas for future projects for the paper! Her enthusiasm for writing and thinking always got a spark going in our meetings, and future meetings will be absent of her spark.
Lucy’s articles brought us into the dramatic and literary world of South High. She wrote articles that got us thinking about how Emma is a novel that we should care about today or why we need to be thoughtful about the pitfalls of romanticizing feminine literature. Her perspective was one that brought the paper to another level of intellect and reflection, and her contributions will be missed, but we are excited to see where her talent takes her in the future!
