Our Thoughts on New Year's Resolutions
🎉New Year, New You: Crushing Your Resolutions in 2024🥳!

New Year’s resolutions are a set of goals that you would like to accomplish in the year. It’s all about setting goals that are meaningful to you. Some people set goals that they want to do, but then that ends in a few days when they get started. Having a whole list of goals to achieve is hard and is going to set you up for failure. Since you have a lot on the plate you need to eat slower and pace yourself eat piece by piece.

My advice to people who are struggling is to remember to make your resolution realistic and break it down into smaller steps. Also don’t be so hard on yourself. Everything takes time and patience and consistency to complete.

Students’ Thoughts: Do New Year’s Resolutions Even Matter?

Do New Year’s resolutions even matter? Do that many people actually make them? What do people actually think about resolutions? Are they a good thing? Do people think they’re a waste of time?

I’ve always wondered what people actually think about them and how many people actually make them or keep them.  So when I got the chance, I surveyed the people I could, which ended up being 20 people. I wish I could’ve gotten more people but I had to work with what I had, and the majority (55%, or 11 people) said that they do make a resolution. A little less than half (45%, or 9 people) said that they don’t.

What do people think about resolutions?  From the majority of the responses I got, people seemed to think they were good, but only to a certain extent. Some people said that the goals help them make sure to get stuff done. Others said that they didn’t understand why you would only make goals at the new year. Why not try to improve all year?

A decent amount of people thought that they’re not a super good idea because they’re expected to be a massively unachievable goal, and this makes people beat themselves up when they can’t achieve that unreasonable and quite frankly impossible goal.

There are many views on New Year’s resolutions. What do you think?

Leveling Up In 2024, Unleashing Your Best Self

New Year’s resolutions are a common practice. They are promises made to yourself to control habits or start doing better things at the beginning of the year. Many people make New Year’s resolutions but don’t follow through with them. Researchers say that up to 9% of people achieve their goal(s).

Examples of New Year Resolutions are:

  • Eat more fruits
  • Drink more water
  • Exercise more
  • Get closer to God or another supreme being
  • Be more social
  • Read more books
  • Lower the usage of screen time
  • Be neater
  • Learn a new skill

New Year’s Resolutions have been around for 4,000 years. This act was made by Babylonians. They would make promises to their Gods and fulfill them by the end of the year. For them, the year started in March when crops were planted.
