Arguably one of the most popular activities people partake in during the holiday season is listening to the seasonal music that accompanies it. From classics like Wham!’s Last Christmas to more recent hits such as Santa Baby by Laufey, there is a song that everybody enjoys listening to the most during the holidays. So, we at the Colonel Chronicle approached some of the faculty members at South High with a simple, yet thought-provoking question:
What is your favorite holiday song, and can you explain in one sentence why?
Mr. Earley: “White Christmas – I love the movie and the song, and whenever either plays, I will always sit and listen or watch.”
Mx. K: “Santa Claus is Coming to Town since I loved the Claymation movie growing up.”
Mrs. Letourneau: “Blue Christmas [by] Elvis Presley because we used to put it on record as a kid and it makes me nostalgic about Christmas growing up.”
Mrs. Eressy: “Christmas Baby Please Come Home by Darlene Love- I never get sick of hearing it and all the covers are really good.”
Mr. Cormier: “Thriller by Michael Jackson or anything from The Nightmare Before Christmas because it’s a jam!”
Ms. DiOrio: “A Nonsense Christmas by Sabrina Carpenter because it’s a little more modern and I like the beat, it’s catchy.”
Mrs. Brown: “Holy Night because it’s the first thing that came to mind.”
Mr. Hinds: Dominick the Donkey– because it’s fun. It’s fun to sing. (Mr Hinds then proceeded to make donkey noises.)
No matter what song you enjoy the most, it is music that brings us all together, and holiday themed songs are no different. So this holiday season, embrace it! Rewind and play that one song you enjoy above all else over and over again, and if anyone tells you to change it, then raise the volume up higher!
