Hello, Colonel Chronicle readers! Editor Jugeiry Perez here. It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from the Chronicle…because I’m graduating!
For those who do not know, I am a senior, and in two weeks I will be graduating from high school! While I am extremely excited to continue on to a new chapter of my life, I will be sad to leave the school paper. Being a member of the Colonel Chronicle was one of the most impactful aspects of my high school career and it led me to realizing that being a journalist was what I wnted to do as a career. When I was placed in journalism back in my sophomore year, I was sure that it would be a class that I would switch out of after a week, but when I met Mrs. Ledoux and the former staff members of the Chronicle, it didn’t take me long to fall in love with it. Writing and editing for this paper has been such a joy for me, and I will miss all the memories that I’ve made along the way.
I want to give a big thank you to our readers for checking out what we have to offer every week, and a special thank you to Mrs. Ledoux and everyone who has ever contributed something to the Colonel Chronicle. The school community is what makes the Colonel Chronicle possible to run, and we couldn’t be more grateful!
I will be going to college to study communications with a concentration in journalism. While I won’t be writing for the Chronicle anymore, I will still be around online, writing for my college paper—and eventually, writing for an actual news outlet as a full-fledged reporter!
