Before the Thanksgiving holiday, the South High Black Student Union hosted the first Thanksgiving potluck, inviting BSU members from five other schools – Abbey Kelly Charter School, Burncoat, Doherty, North, and Worcester Tech.
Owen Cohane and Aseda Nkansah, leaders of the South High BSU, along with advisor Ms. Beard set up this event as “A chance for schools to meet other presidents of the BSU, and get ideas for planning future events, and to have the chance for BSU members from other schools to meet and connect.”
This year, the BSU hopes to fundraise and set up trips to HBCUs, along with a possible BSU scholarship in the future. The BSU meets every Wednesday after school.
