Welcome to the first Club Spotlight of the 25-26 school year! There are a near endless amount of clubs here at South High, and with that, a near endless amount of questions about them. Fellow Colonel Lilyann Bonoldi answers these questions on the Dungeons and Dragons (or D&D for short) Club below:
What club are you a part of?
“I’m a part of the Dungeons and Dragons club!”
What do you do there?
“We play the D&D game, and talk about how we’re going to play for the session. For example I shall bring my weapon into the tree stump claiming the land and all under my protection,” Bonildi says. “D&D is like an imaginary game in a sense, if you can imagine your character doing something, then it can do it! And if you roll a high enough number… dice can determine how well you do something, so if [you] roll a nat 20, you do your task so well that you [practically] did it with your eyes closed. Now if you rolled a nat 1, you failed and you twisted your ankle.”
Who runs the D&D Club?
“Well, there’s [more than] one teacher who’s running the game: there’s Mr. D (Carlo DiBonaventura), Ms. Bishop (Alex Bishop), and Mr. Holmes (Tim Holmes).”
Who is in the D&D Club?
“There’s the teachers who run the game, and all the high schoolers who joined as well.” Bonildi states. “You can join one of these groups to do the activities they provide. You can join whenever you want, as long as it’s ok with the teachers and if they have room!”
What did you do at the Club Fair?
“The club fair was on October 10th in the cafeteria. Me and fellow club member Keeva set up the poster board and we got people to join the club!”
Where is the D&D Club?
“Mr. D’s club is in the library; Mr. Holmes and Ms. Bishop are in their rooms.”
Why does South High School have a D&D club?
“We have the club because so many people like it,” explains Bonildi.
“There’s no way to describe your first ever party, it’s weird, funny, and we have to do problem solving skills. In D&D you can pretty much do whatever you want, be a wizard to a barbarian or anything in between, this is your story and so you decide what it’s going to be about. If you’re interested, come join our club!”
